Today on Feminine Roadmap Heidi Herman brings her joyful take on gaining a fresh perspective on retirement. Heidi’s inspiration came from becoming the plus one for her mother’s adventures and experiences started well into her 80’s and early 90’s. Heidi and her mother, Ieda Jonasdottir Herman, spent one year doing 93 things her mother wanted to do for her 93rd year of living and they even wrote a book about it- “Never Too Late: A Year of Ordinary Adventures The Proves You’re Never Too Old for Something New- Even at 93”.  The example her mother set for her, her vivacity and mindset about living life fully, moving forward with a “why not” attitude to new things, profoundly impacted Heidi’s view of retirement and aging.  The result of that year lead Heidi to write a book inspired by her mother’s philosophy, a book that is written as a springboard of ideas and encouragement to broaden our minds to think of retirement in a new, fresh way. Her goal is to encourage us in midlife and beyond to do more living now and as we approach retirement to take a fresh perspective on how we might choose to live those years with curiosity, exploration and adventure. Whether you are retired or are  years away from it- Heidi’s message is for you right where you are, start now, look for the yes, get our of your comfort zone and do the thing you want to do just because.
