Today on Feminine Roadmap we are talking about how to live extra in midlife with John J. Teng.

John has lived a full and diverse life with joys, pains, successes and failures. When he landed in a dark spot in his early 40’s he found himself in need of some help and a reset. Through that time of struggle John began to develop the desire to help others powerfully reframe common midlife transitions like unfulfilled expectations and physical changes so they could live midlife to the max.

After doing the work to overcome that difficult season he decided to write a book called “The Hero Mindset”. In this conversation John shares the 5 main landmarks of the Hero Mindset with us. He explains that those landmarks don’t move, they stay set, stationary and are points of reference for us. He encourages listeners to recognize that the pain is part of the journey and if we are consciously willing to embrace it then we can get through it.

John uses the example of a caterpillar in a chrysalis to reflect the journey of change. The chrysalis is a point of crisis for the caterpillar but by going through that it becomes a greater version of itself with greater possibilities. Like that caterpillar, John wants listeners to take whatever crisis we are in, use the landmarks to help guide us through so that we too can emerge on the other side a greater version of ourselves.
