Today on Feminine Roadmap: Permission to not slow down with Jill Phillips.

Jill found herself unhappy and uninspired when she hit midlife. Her life dramatically changed with a divorce and a cancer diagnosis, along with that a new life. She wanted to do something she hadn’t done before so she decided to go back to school and get her degree which included learning to write a thesis. A byproduct of this dynamic shift in her life was a mission to find out what she could do.

At 58 years old  with a degree in hand she began to explore other things that she found interesting. She hired a personal trainer at 61 years old and lost weight she’d ben carrying around for years. Her fitness journey lead to learning to run so she could do her first 5K. Jill wisely reminds listeners that they don’t have to first or the fastest at what they choose, they just need to prepare and enjoy!

Her next adventure was writing down her family stories and ended up with a published book. She is living proof that age is not a restriction and you have permission to not slow down as you age. She said that she’s done more in the last 10 years than she had done for decades before.

As she approaches 70, Jill is looking forward to what her next big experience will be. She encourages people in midlife and beyond to try something new, meet new people, and find out about yourself in the process. Break out of the things you think you know about yourself and your capabilities. Be kind to yourself, prepare, fuel your mind and body well then give things a go.

If you are just getting started and you’re a midlifer, grab a cuppa and listen to Jill’s story. You have permission to move forward and not slow down!
